LR assist
Yesterday we were left stranded as D5 wouldn't start for what looks like a charging fault.
The car was picked up and taken the dealer.
We then had to request a taxi to get us the 23 miles home.
This morning I called LR assist to ask where my courtesy car is. Answer we can't get you one on a Sunday.
If we need to go anywhere we could request a taxi.😔
Not impressed.

Could have told you that!
Recently I was without for nearly a week before they managed to get me one.
Firstly, like you, it was a Sunday.
Then there was a curtesy car or a “raft” car as they call them, for me at a dealership 50 miles away, but their driver to take it to me went sick. That persisted for a few days until a “raft” car became available at my local dealership.
Raft cars are LR curtesy cars that are owned by LR and float around the various dealerships.
I could have got cross and had a rant at them, but what’s the point? Ultimately they’d have stuck their heels in and it wouldn’t have got me anywhere.

LR Assist
My own experience with LRA was quite different, the rear door lock had failed and couldn't be actioned by the dealer for 2 months, however LRA sent out their Technician to investigate, he made a temporary repair to enable the vehicle to be locked, checked the warranty, ordered the part and returned once delivered (7 days), and fitted the new lock unit.
Job done
And kept me updated throughout

I agree the AA guys who come out are usually very helpful. It's the assist lot who are not proactive when it comes to providing alternative transport, when you're car is taken away.

My experience is that LR Assist liaise with Enterprise for a courtesy car.

It depends on whether the vehicle is under the manufacturers warranty - raft car, no time limit on how long you have it or after that the LR named one - Enterprise, limited to 7 days unless there’s some goodwill from LR (what’s that!) to my knowledge.

A taxi picked me up today and I was taken to the dealership to pick up a Range Rover Velar.

Yep, they pay for a taxi or take it out to you if you can’t hitch it in.
They are actually meant to provide you with a near identical car, so that would be another Disco, Range Rover or Defender, NOT a Velar.
I had that out with them last month and they acknowledged that when they bunged me one of those. Its a bit bland, but better than nothing and had I a reason to have something larger, I’d have stuck my heels in.

Well at least it's a car, and amazingly it has a tow bar. Needless to say they haven't looked at my car yet.,😔
