D300
Has anyone oh here has to have the auxiliary belt and tensioner replaced on their D300?
Mine had a charging fault and left me stranded last week.
The dealer told me yesterday that these components need replacing but they are not sure why they have failed.

Yes.
On some vehicles, the AC compressor bolts were not torqued correctly. They work loose and cause damage to the AC compressor bracket. The AC compressor then moves and causes vibration and damage to the accessory belt and tensioner.
Mine had all of the following replaced: AC bracket, AC bracket bolts, accessory belt, tensioner.

They also did a software update so that the car is more likely to start the engine when cold using the starter motor rather than the MGU which it uses for the smooth starts when stop-starting. The MGU turns the engine via the accessory belt which also creates stress on the tensioner and AC bracket.
