Build specs
I am looking to buy a D5 and that obviously involves looking at cars online, is there an easy way to get the chassis number from the registration number so i can look at the history and also is there an easy way to get the build spec, assuming I have the chassis number?

Thanks for that, that's basically an HPI option, what i was looking for was a way to get the chassis number without having to keep paying for HPI's.

The likes of
https://www.carcheck.co.uk/ provide free vehicle information on the basis of registration number. However, to get all the information you have to pay for a premium report (a sample report is available to download). Other companies will provide a similar service but it is not known how comprehensive they all are relative to each other..

I can get it via "Partslink" or a friendly mot station, its just all a bit cumber sum, hence asking if anyone knew of a easy way to access it without having to keep buying reports.
All part of the fun of trying to find a new D5.
