So over the past few weeks I’ve been on an emotional rollercoaster regarding one of my rear tyres that’s out of camber by 2.5. I took it to a local garage who said they are unable to adjust the rear camber and there is no way to adjust them. I then took it to a Land Rover specialist here in Aberdeen who told me that the rear camber is controlled by the air suspension and that they don’t have the IID tool to adjust and fix it so unfortunately I have no choice but to have Land Rover do it.
Has anyone else had the same issue and if so what was the fix?
Although it's sadly not a lot of help to you, I had a GAP IID (G3) I bought for my D4 a few years ago that I upgraded to the latest G4 version when I bought my '17 plate TD6...I consider the IID tool as an essential bit of kit as a Land Rover owner since living where I do, I do all my own servicing and maintenance. That said, it's a relatively expensive initial outlay for a VIN locked diagnostic tool at around £500 for the G4 version. (the upgrade to the G4 from my older G3 cost around £100.) so not for the faint of heart.
Overall, the GAP IID is a very powerful tool to have at your disposal and certainly for the sheer amount of functions it covers, far cheaper in the long run than having to suffer Land Rover dealership prices when things like this crop up. I checked and calibrated all my suspension heights on the D5 with the IID tool as par for the course after I got it home.
Yeah I did think of getting the IID tool but I was unsure if it would allow me to fully set the suspension and I’m also worried it’s another issue that’s effecting just the camber of one wheel like a faulty sensor or something.
Are you able to do a full alignment with that tool because the cost of 1 alignment and the local dealer is £550 which I think is not far off the cost of the tool.
You can do a full suspension height calibration or manually adjust and save height settings per corner if need be. There's a couple of older threads on this forum that cover the suspension settings in the IID tool, taken from the Disco 4 forums if I remember rightly. The IID was the most used out of all my tools when I had the D4.
Looking at the pic of your real wheel, could it be an air leak on that unit perhaps? Might be worthwhile checking that out if it's just the one suspension unit that's sagging. If it's a faulty height sensor or valve on that corner, the IID tool will flag it up in any case.
For the IID (G4) tool these are the basic suspension functions it covers (there are a lot more):

The aforementioned tools (IID G3/G4) are now capable of the following functions including a few specific examples:
-Faults
-Height Adjust (change vehicle height)*
-Height Control
-Calibration*
CHCM--Suspension, Guided Calibration, Manual Calibration
CHCM--Suspension, Set normal/Tight Tolerance Mode, Test Valve
The guided calibration walks you through it step by step which is handy.
Besides the suspension calibration thing...and if you're relatively comfy around a set of spanners, the IID tool is a worthwhile and practically invaluable investment for diagnostics and fault finding in my opinion...especially for the likes of me living on a small rock in the middle of the north sea...the nearest LR dealership is 3 days and 2 ferries south of me in Inverness. From simple functions like resetting the service interval after an oil and filter change to the more complicated stuff, I couldn't do without it.
