Anyone else added pointless blingy bits yet?
Nothing too drastic...since there isn't a huge range of after market clip on accessories compared to what's available for the D1's to D4's. None of these bits are particularly expensive and take around 5-10 minutes to fit...
I changed the pathetically dim yellow puddle light bulbs for blue LED's on all 4 door cards as well as the front footwell LED's, They're dimming LED's so they fade out like the originals rather than just on/off.
Upgraded the 4 LED's in the boot to ones that weren't so Prince of Darkness....
Replaced the wing mirror indicator repeaters with smoked black sweep type LED units after replacing the original white mirror caps with black ones.
...as well as changing the front grille to the more aggressive looking black facelift style from the original ribbed black and silver.
Original...
New...
Added some wind deflectors and aluminium brake and accelerator pedal covers...
Also found some nice side vent covers...

Now we’re talking, mods are just the best.
Just added roof rails and bars, already have a set of dynamic, sweeping repeaters for the wing mirrors that I swapped out of my D4 waiting to go in ( It’s about the only thing that is compatible between the D4 + D5 ).
Will also be going down the black pack route. Bonnet lettering, black lower front vent trims, dynamic grill in black, black rear lettering, black rear lower tow panel + exhaust trim panels, and possibly front but that depends how I feel once the front grill is in.
Those side vents look ripe for a mod too, I fancy the carbon look for those with matching carbon mirror covers.😬
Amazed there’s not more folk into doing mods on here. It was rife amongst owners on the D3 and D4 forums. -

Aye...I was kinda surprised that this forum was so passive...nobody blinging the D5's out like we all did with the D2's, D3's and D4's.
I thought at first it was because the D5's were still a bit new and precious to shove shiny bits or rude off road mods on them...but that surely can't be the case these days.
I've only ever met one guy (Paul) when the missus and me were off road camping in Wales with the D4 and the roof tent, who regularly takes his heavily modded 2018 HSE Lux D5 green laning with the D3 and D4 crowd, even there he was looked on as a kinda oddity
Awesome vid...D5 with D3's and D4's in their natural environment
Anyways, for your wish list of bits and bobs, check these guys out...they've got lots of how-to videos on fitting the stuff they sell as well. I got 90% of my blingy bits from them...new LED's, front grille, side vent covers, black exhaust trim covers, ARB compressor etc, etc. Can't recommend them highly enough. Great prices and top notch shipping.
If there's something you want that's out of stock, they'll email you in a day or 2 and let you know it's been ordered.

Mine already had roof rails fitted but I bought a set of roof bars from someone selling them on from here...needed them for the roof tent.
One of the things I need to do...since it's bothering me... is sort that rear tow plate trim to match the rest of the black pack on the D5. But since I've got a removable towbar, none of the black ones available for sale will fit. Looks like I'll just have to dust off the old spray painting skills, take it off and spray it with some black stove paint...that'll sort it
My old D2...
And my D4...

I prefer functional mods that also add to or at least don't distract from the aesthetic. On mine:
Proud Rhino rock sliders with tree bars from Lucky8 LLC (definitely got my money's worth and then some on those)
Proud Rhino front bash plate - made to be part of a full winch tray, but I haven't installed that since I don't really need a winch, and it would require removing the entire front fascia and cutting away some front structural cross member material to add the tray)
Baja Designs S2 Sport yellow fogs, mounted on a plate that uses the front license plate mount as a base - excellent add for night time heavy snow driving and off-roading
18 inch Compomotive PD1881 wheels in matte black, with 70-series tires.

Awesome mods, Ranger
You're very lucky living in the US, in the UK and Europe, we've almost nothing like those custom made off-road accessories available (yet) for the D5 outside of imports from the US or Australia. Wheels and tyres aside, body, chassis or suspension mods are almost unseen or unheard of, certainly difficult or prohibitively expensive to have made or to get hold of
The D2's, D3's and D4's have a whole suite of off the shelf mods and accessories readily available from indy 4x4 specialists, which is why they're all very popular with the overlanders and green laners.
The guy I mentioned, Paul with his modded 2018 HSE Lux imported almost all of his mods like the rock/tree sliders and stainless under chassis plates from the US or Australia at great expense with his front discreet winch and bash plate being custom made and fitted by a small outfit in Scotland.
He has other mods like a rear door mounted spare wheel swivel carrier (similar to the one I had on my D4) as well as custom made or imported roof and interior accessories...he's spent more than a fair amount of cash on modding his D5 for his hobby of off-road pursuits...as well as being his daily driver and taking his kids to school in it.
I certainly admire his obsession for modding or customising his D5...I've had a few Harleys in my garage over the years, all customised by me, mostly with imported mods from your side of the pond as well as fitting out my old D2 and D4 for off-roading... so I know where he's coming from.
After the chance meeting with him on our off-road camping trip almost 2 years ago and having a look round his D5, it made my mind up that one of them would fit in just perfectly with my penchant for adding bits to Land Rovers and Harleys to make them something a bit less ordinary
