I have not been driving much recently but now I am back in the car the squeak is occurring really quite often.
a/ When driving along, it occurs every minute or so, It does not seem to be driving dynamic related, ie. not caused by touching the brakes or bumps in the road. road camber etc.
b/ If the car has been driven a short while, it will squeak 3 or 4 times when the engine is turned off and you exit the car.
The sound seems to be coming from underneath the car. I was suspecting air suspension but I can raise and lower the car without any noises, so I suspect it is not that.
I am wondering if it is the exhaust pressure control valve. But not sure why it would make a noise after the car has stopped.

From how you describe it, my money would still be on air suspension...does the noise sound like it's coming from the back or front of the car?

my money was originally on the air suspension. The exact location is hard to pin down. It sounds more rearward to me.
I have tried raising and lowering the car a few times but cannot get it to squeal at all while doing so. I have some time this afternoon so I think I will try to pin it down further. The only way to reliably reproduce it is to drive around for a while then turn off and exit the car. It will squeak when driving but it's impossible to locate it then. I will get one of the kids to stand on the drive and have a listen when I get back.

The main reason I asked if it was front or back is that the compressor is in the boot under the floor.
It may not be the air suspension or a squeaky valve in the compressor...it could be a worn rubber trailing arm or swing arm bush or similar mechanical component...intermittent anonymous squeaks are notoriously difficult to pin down

Thanks. That's really helpful.
It would make sense it was related to the air suspension adjusting somehow, especially the post-drive squeaking which seems to happen at a similar time to when the car "settles" itself after parking.
Annoyingly, yesterday I took it for a drive and it was totally silent. Nothing while driving and nothing on parking. Really odd.
However, before starting off, I did give the air a good workout by raising and lowering a good few times.
Additionally, I saw other posts about the spare wheel hanger squeaking, so I took it off and greased it. I really doubt it was that though. Who knows.
Will be going for more road testing today so we'll see.

Nice that it seems to have gone for now, Martin...but keep us informed if you suss out what it was or where it was coming from...every little squeak or knock solved or pinpointed could well help someone else
