Window regulator replacement how-to video
Thought I'd drop this in here for anyone looking to replace a broken window regulator on their own. The DIY option costs on average less than £150 for a 3rd party replacement regulator from Ebay or indy 4x4 online stores (LR genuine OEM replacement is £270 or more).
For those purists that swear by genuine parts...they probably came over on the same boat from the same factory in China...the only difference is that one of them has a LR logo stamped on it
The job takes around half an hour from start to finish if it's your first time. Only tools required are Torx T20 and T30 and a small flat bladed screwdriver or plastic pry tool....and a strip of Gaffer tape to hold the window up during the regulator replacement.
An additional tip if you're having problems lining up the centre torx screw on the inner door panel when reassembling, remove the speaker (4 x T30) and you can reach behind the plastic panel without removing all the rest of the panel torx screws and guide the final centre screw in by gently pulling the window regulator motor closer to the door panel.
To recalibrate the window one touch auto-close and open, hold the window button up for 3 seconds once it's closed. Job done
It's roughly the same process for front and rear doors.
