DPF FULL. Odd Fix but I’ll take it

So had the dreaded DPF full visit dealer again today, It’s SWIMBOS birthday and she wanted to go to
Sheringham a good 130miles from us and lots of decent roads where we could crack on then 20 miles out the DPF full came on, I used the gap iid tool to force a regen and this brought the soot level from 30.5 to 26.8 by the time we got to Sheringham, had a full day on the beach and set of home at 6, got 10 miles out and it came up again DPF full, so I used the iid tool force a regen but nothing it wouldn’t regen even with a full tank of fuel then the soot went from 30.5 to 30.9, I still had 120 miles to go so I then used the iid to trick the car into thinking it had a new DPF this cleared all the faults and reset the soot to 0,

I set off thinking if the soot was at 30.9 it will only go up and end up clogging the engine like the old banana up the exhaust, but it didn’t the car seemed to have even better mid range grunt, we traveled the 120 miles with no issues and an average mpg of 39 on a mix of A and b roads

I’m sure my DPF full is more a software glitch that an actual full DPF only time will tell

I’ll keep you updated on how things turn out

Weird one. I'd certainly be interested on how it goes from there. I cleaned my DPF after buying my '17 plate D5 last year, since although I had no issues with it, I had no idea if and when it had ever been cleaned. I used my IID tool the same as you did to have the DPF unit marked up as 'replaced'...been fine since.
