I have a funny feeling that I'll have the same issue...So, unless the security update is a hard requirement, it won't be getting done as long as the remote features on the In Control app still work. If I need the security update, a trip to the dealer is a major expedition for me as I live on a very small rock in the middle of the north sea
Geographically challenged just about sums it up. It takes an entire day with 3 hours spent on a ferry each way to the main island just to pop into the nearest Tesco...never mind a Land Rover dealership

The linking process was extremely simple and took less than 5 minutes with nothing other than my phone. No data sim card needed or anything else...but yet another palaver...although I'm now registered with In Control, linked the Bling Barge to the phone app and my online account, it's all activated and working except I can't upgrade or renew the available In Control subscription services...
I have the basic Pro services (which are free but almost entirely useless) Both the Protect and Remote premium services which I wanted to try out are marked as subscription expired on the 15th of December 2020 which obviously, the previous owner didn't renew.
I still can't access either of those services via the app or online...they're greyed out on both the app and my In Control web account with no option whatsoever to subscribe or renew
I guess I'll be phoning the lovely Glynis again tomorrow

Phoned the lovely Glynis again this morning and she kindly activated the subscriptions for a month FOC like they did with you Phil. She just forgot to activate them yesterday during our phone call...Strangely enough though, why did I think the subscription renewal was expensive?
When I asked her about the cost of renewing the subscription, she told me that the renewal was £40 per year or £60 for 2 years...
At that price, I'll be renewing my subscription for a couple of years once the month FOC expires...
Haven't tried the Protect feature...but I'm hardly likely to utilise it living where I do...
I had a play with the remote features in the app though and yup, they'll be very handy indeed...so a thumbs up for Remote Premium... and while I'm at it, I'll take back my initially dismissive and sadly uninformed comments about the In Control features at the start of this thread.
Best of all, I no longer have some strange dude's personal details linked to the Bling Barge via In Control, even though it hadn't been active since Dec 2020...'Tis mine at last.
As for the experience of dealing with Glynis from In Control customer support, compared to the seemingly endless parade of Land Rover branded buffoons I had dealings with on the phone during this saga, she was an absolute pleasure and couldn't be more helpful. 10/10
...And thank you, to Phil, JonM and Wolfpack who helped steer me onto the right path despite my Land Rover temper tantrums

Sticking with the remote app...I checked my longest journey over the last week and it seems we're short of roads on this isolated rock. Points A and B are both of the island shops with a spin around the north east of the island for fun

It only does the email-code thing to me if I log in on the InControl website from my PC...the phone app works fine with biometrics using my fingerprint. I've only ever had to set that up once when I first downloaded it from the app store. The remote start is a bit hit and miss sometimes...and slow.
I only use the website to clear old logged journeys if I forget to delete them on the phone for a few months...can't mass delete the journey logs on the phone app...or rather, I haven't figured out how to do it yet.
I paid for a 2 year sub when I found out it was slightly useful... I didn't think £60 for 2 years was too excessive, even if just to encourage my laziness in walking out to start the car in the winter to heat it up half an hour before I went anywhere.
The remote start and remote locking are handy...and the GPS locator when I sent the Bling Barge over on the ferry for MOT and arguing with the garage who left it sitting on the pier for a day...besides that, it's just a bling app on my phone that has a Land Rover icon.
If it could fix my dodgy reversing camera with the intermittent fault out, it would be marvellous.

I just checked again, on my phone and it’s saying input password again.
Pain in the ‘arris, I’ve decided anyway, I ain’t renewing it.
It’s done my head in……bit like the car, can’t warm to it at all.🤫 -
