The thieving toerags always have access to dodgy software though... Censored

The UWB technology was JLR's answer to keyless entry relay theft...our 2017 models weren't covered by that technology though...there was an offer for a while of taking pre 2018 JLR vehicles into a dealership for a 'complimentary' security update...I sent Land Rover an email asking about it since there's no record of mine ever being done...but they never bothered to reply Rolling Eyes

I wasn't that concerned to be honest...since high value car thieves aren't going to be looking at nicking 8 year old Discos in the first place...plus living where I live, I'm 2 ferries and 3 days away from the nearest chavs with hoodies type of chancers who might be tempted to nab the Bling Barge for a joyride...

Found out why I can program keys for the Bling Barge...the KVM/RFA module (Keyless Vehicle Module/Remote Frequency Actuator) was replaced under warranty at a dealership for some reason back in 2019...Pity Land Rover didn't think to replace it with one that had UWB technology Rolling Eyes

It has...so has yours, in case you haven't tried it. I like it because it enables the gesture tailgate...so I can look like a proper muppet swinging my hoof under the exhaust to open the boot outside the local shop Laughing

A lot of folk turn it off because of the risk of relay theft on non UWB tech pre 2018 models like ours. As long as you stick your keys in a faraday pouch or a biscuit tin in the house, it'll be fine.

Not that I'm worried about any car thieves making it up here to the north sea...but I bought one of these from Amazon for a fiver, it's just hanging on the keyhook in the kitchen...a bit pointless really since the house is never locked. Rolling Eyes

JRF sent me one of those pouches for free when they sent the sleeping batteries.

I assumed it was a sleeping bag so the batteries got a good nap. Laughing

Damn...free key fob sleeping bags from a Land Rover dealer. I didn't even get a free keyring.

Which isn't entirely true... Even though the indy I bought it from wasn't a LR dealer, they fitted a full set of genuine mudflaps FOC and delivered the Bling Barge from Stoke on Trent to Aberdeen for free Wink

    Thumbs Up
I’ve got the exact same pouch
The stitch colour matches my car 😂
Gap got back to me again

    Hello

Your tool is a G2, not a G3. Its not capable of working properly on your 2017. We can exchange the G2 for either a G3 or G4. Cost would be

    -400 CAD shipping included for a G3*

    -600 CAD shipping included for a G4*

    *Excluding Oceania

    $600 CAD is £321 for the G2-G4.

$400 CAD is £214 G2-G3....which is around the same price I paid for the G3-G4 exchange.

Didn't realise your IID was a G2 which makes the exchange price a tad steep. £320 is still £200 cheaper than buying a brand new G4 outright though... which is why I did the exchange rather than selling my G3 at a loss and then buying a G4. Nice of GAP to get back to you. Thumbs Up

Ok so the garage can sort out the screen wash bottle (cracked near the pump)

Steering joint is total part not just the rubber boot LRJ don’t do just the boot they’re saying but I’m sure I’ve seen one 🤷🏻‍♂️ tbh it’s under warranty so I don’t mind a genuine new one

The stop start issue, they can’t sort because the car needs to get plugged into Jaguar Landrover software to dig deeper into the issue because I feel that the fault that is showing does have something to do with the stop start problem so until that fault code is resolved via software, I believe he said they can’t do anymore which is a fault that showed at the start of the link on timed climate pure and simple which I believe also relates to the FBH issue too
