It's been done on a 2 colour printer I think...just looking at the logo on the lid. That's good work though, I don't mind paying for someone else taking the time and effort in 3DS Max or Blender to design that. Can't make out from the pics is he's printed it in PLA or ABS though...
Must be a Land Rover owner though...nobody else would be using an IID tool and go through the effort of designing and 3D printing a custom hard box for it

Just looked through the guy's Ebay page...he's sold 78 of those IID tool hard shell cases already, and that's just on Ebay. Not surprising really, as soon as I saw the pics you posted I was like, "Dude, take my money!"
He prints them to order in ABS, box comes with a spare hinge and locking clip. He'll do them with a custom logo of your choice for a quid or two extra or in different colours... the reviews are all 100% positive too.
He's definitely made bank with that little idea. Just wish I'd thought of it first

It does have a closed, hooked end to stop the belt slipping out...watch the little video on Etsy
Of course...if I had designed the clip in 3DS Max myself...they would look proper purty
If you want real purty though...there's always these ones from China

Thanks for the post Daz! I wondered why I had an influx of orders
I'm a tinkerer, bought the IID when I had the D3, box was in bits so I decided to make my own, fired up fusion 360 and mocked out a few prototypes and posted on facebook, everyone went nuts for them
sold around 150 in total, First listing got hammered and I forgot to put a "999" quantity on there, sold out within a week and had to relist as a new product
Yeah they've done alright! paid for another Bambu X1C to keep up with everything I make
And yup they're printed in ABS. PLA for prototypes, ABS/ASA for products

Thanks for posting here Liam, nice to see the name behind the product.
Quite simply, I think your little IID tool hard case is the best thing since sliced bread...I couldn't get my Ebay order in fast enough

Everyone loves them I did make a reeeeeal fancy one for the NanoCom, but its a big print and would need to be charged at about Ā£50 ish to make anything on it. That's a two teir 3 hinge system, nanocom on top, ODB cable underneath. I've got a couple out there but not really advertised

Liam, if you hadn't been a Disco 5 owner, I might have accepted your very generous offer...but you're part of the club, mate.
Your innovation and unique design has more than earned my cash...and your kind thanks in return for a very small effort of support for my part is reward enough. As for your designs and products...seriously...get them out there. The likes of Etsy is also tailored to be a more home craft related outlet than Ebay and might be worthwhile sticking an ad on there
I'm a great believer in what this forum represents, it's primarily a platform for the sharing of knowledge and being in it's own way, a social outlet where help, advice and comradeship is freely offered. That's an increasingly rare thing in todays world of mostly attention seeking anti-social media.
