Strange fan related noise behind dash
Im new here and am also a member on another Discovery 5 forum.
My Discovery 5 is making a weird air conditioning/ventilation fan noise from somewhere behind the dash.
It seems intermittent and changes in tone and pitch. I wondered if it could be a leaf or twig but surely there is a filter that stops large objects entering the ventilation system.
Can someone throw some light on this please?
Ive joined this forum this morning as I had no replies in the other forum despite several hundred views!!
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reply.
I will check if the noise goes away if I switch of the the system completely.

Thanks PRH...I was about to link that other thread on here
Welcome to the forum Carl, you'll usually get a reply for questions asked on here...if we can of course
You may find it's nothing more than a stray leaf or a bit of paper on top of the pollen filter that's causing the noise...always worth having a look.

Thanks for welcome and reply.
I did a bit of investigation at the weekend and can now explain the noise a bit better.
It sounds like a wasp or large fly is behind dash.
The noise occurs for about 2 mins and then goes away and comes back intermittently.
It doesn't matter what the ventilation or heating is doing the noise wont stop.
It happens if the car is moving or stationary.
Switching to re circ makes no difference.
I've ruled out the window seal issue fairly convincingly!

Bit of a long shot but wonder if it’s something vibrating on, around or in the exhaust/cat.
Perhaps pop the bonnet to listen......

Thanks PRH.
No its 100% just behind the top of the dash.
Definitely not coming from that low.
