LR N877 security update
Just had my letter from JLR for a security update on my Vehicle. This is to update the possibility of thieves accessing the remote key with a relay.

Yes I got one as well. I am wondering if my local indie can do the update or whether it has to go to a JLR stealer?

It's a complimentary security updates foe vehicles that do not already have it. Apparently stops your vehicle being stolen

Ooo, got my letter from JLR regarding the complementary security update for the Bling Barge this morning.
Unfortunately, the closest LR dealership to me is in Inverness. I'd have to arrange the visit around ferries and an overnight stay...just for an hour at a dealership.
To be fair...there's nobody going to be stealing my car from here...it's a physical impossibility since I live 2 ferries and 3 days away from the nearest car thief... so whilst a security and software update at a dealership would be nice treat for the Bling Barge, it's not
really a necessity in my case.
I'll see how I feel in the new year...I might just fancy a road trip with the missus down to Inverness at some point...make a weekend of it or something.

The Disco went in today for my software update. On the way home I noticed the auto beam was not turned on and easy access was turned off. Upon locking the vehicle I always double check the door ( old school

) to find that the auto approach locking is now active. It was turned off previously. I rang them back to be told to check my settings and I can't find it. I have even tried the key fob light 3 times and u lock but it still remains on

They have asked me to return the vehicle

Bl**dy hell. They can’t even get a security update right.
Now concerned, as I am having mine done on 2nd Jan.
Beginning to wonder what the odds are of a 2017 Discovery ever being nicked. Is it even worth doing?
I mean, you’ve got to be a bit dim to consider nicking an 8year old Discovery (with the recorded history for leaks and faults that Discoveries have) rather than another year/make/model!

Mine is now back to normal. I went back to be told that my vehicle does not have approach unlocking fitted

They informed me they had asked the top technician and this was his response

My question was why did my vehicle not have it turned on before the update but now it has it? They couldn't give me the answer. So I followed the remote fob 3 lights and unlock with the door open ( this is why it didn't work the first time) and bingo it is turned off. I went in and informed them that it was all sorted and they wanted to know how I did it

I just said happy new year and left.
