Typical, MOT tomorrow and the car has faulted. Coming up with blind spot monitor failure. Switched off and on and it's still there. So put the diagnostics on and got the following.
state intermittent front left- side marker lamp - signal stuck high. This cleared.
State permanent Control module calibration data #2 - missing calibration, This wouldn't clear.
State permanent High speed can communication bus - invalid serial data received, cleared
State permanent Control module - internal electronic failure, this wouldn't clear.
I run the diagnostics while on the supermarket car park. Switched off and went into the shop. When i came out blind spot monitor was working, and car ran perfect.
So am i in for a big bill in the near future?
What can be the cause for all these, or is it just a glitch ?
My car has been in for a diagnostic session today, for these codes that will not clear. Mainly the BCU internal electrical failure. Turns out the car at some point had partially updated, causing a software corruption through the infotainment centre. They have updated all modules and cleared the fault codes. The strange part is, i drove the car out and the annoying clicking from the 2nd row single seat, every time i pull away has stopped. All the way home silence, just been out shopping and still silence. I will ask them what they did when i go back, but i can only presume that in the updates it causes the seat motors and locks to pull in tighter.
Strange but a happy side effect.
I do have to go back as there is a fault in the drivers seat module, but that should be replaced under warranty.
I managed to rebook the Bling Barge in for the N-877 security update after the last 2 trips were cancelled due to ferry cancellations with the month solid of storm force winds. Couldn't get a space at the dealership until March 19th though...anyway, all the ferries and hotels etc have been booked (again)... so 3rd time lucky trying to get off this island.
Anyway, I'm hoping that the software update will clear some of my long standing unclearable DTC's...namely with the Permanent Control module I have the same fault with. I suspect that this error is what's causing my reversing camera insufficient voltage issue... we'll see how it behaves once all the ECU's have been updated.
It's for pre 2018 vehicles only...it just helps combat the risk of relay theft. In 2018, all JLR vehicles came out of the factory with improved security measures through the introduction of Ultra Wide Band key technology which negates any risk of relay theft...pre 2018 D5's like mine didn't have that so JLR did a recall on all pre 2018 models to install a complementary security software update.
The 2 different style keyfobs... Old style like mine on the left, 2018+ UWB fob on the right.
Besides the security update, the process also installs all the latest software and firmware updates for the entire car...which is the reason I'm taking the Bling Barge all the way down to Inverness to have the free update done...the security aspect isn't really an issue for me up here in the middle of the north sea...we're 3 days and 2 ferries away from the nearest car thief.
