GPS issue - clock and low battery?
Discovery 5 2017
Hi my navigation is stuck 400 miles from where I am. I am unable to change the date manually and when I select automatic it doesn't find or change the time and date.
Would this cause the GPS to not work correctly?
I have found that my battery is 65% charge, would this be causing the date and time issues that in turn are affecting the GPS?
Thanks

That seems a weird issue with the clock, date and time not updating... it might well be a low battery causing it. If you have a CTEK charger, leave it on overnight and see if that cures the problem. Other than that, you could try resetting the infotainment system by holding the power button untill the LR logo appears...resetting the unit might shift it.
I take it you're using the onboard navigation, Craig? I gave up with trying to make it work on my '17 plate HSE. The onboard sim card wouldn't work for updates as the telemetry module is 3G only...couldn't download navigation updates or live data as my 5G data sim was rendered useless.
I use wireless Android Auto via a dongle on mine so the navigation and GPS works seamlessly through my phone...works better than the onboard stuff anyway.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes been using Android Auto as well but the GPS drops every now and again on maps. Wasn't sure if that was still related to the car date still being wrong even though it should be running from the phone.
I'm charging it overnight so will see if that helps tomorrow. It's strange it lets me manually change the time but the date has no arrows to change so the day/month/year are completely wrong!!
I'll report back tomorrow but thanks 👍

Just out of interest...did you get the complementary recall for the N-877 security update? It should have been rolled out to all owners of pre 2018 D5's...

I'm not sure I'll need to check that.

When using Android Auto, you're using your phone's GPS and data, not the car's. If you're getting GPS drops on your phone it will be because your phone finds it difficult to get a strong GPS signal through a metal car body with windscreen heater wires etc.
The car's built in navigation uses the external GPS antenna in the shark fin. Have a look at this, it may be relevant:
