Picked up a horrible large chip with crack on the motorway a little while ago. I need to get the screen replaced, it'll be via insurance so Autoglass I imagine.
I've been putting it off as I have this background fear that I've been very fortunate not to suffer from any of the windscreen leak issues that seem to have plagued many on this forum. This isn't a general concern, I've had plenty of windscreen replacements in the past (mostly X5s) with no issues, it's specifically about issues with D5's and windscreen leaks.
What are people's experiences of having the windscreen replaced - anyone had a leak after replacement whereas they had no issues before?
Also wondering do the likes of Autoglass recalibrate the ADAS/cameras etc or will that need to be a dealer visit afterwards?
My first D5 had it's windscreen damaged as the delivery driver was bringing it to me. The delivery company arranged a replacement which Auto glass fitted a couple of weeks later.
Auto glass did the recalibration and it never leaked during the 3 years I had the car.
MY2026 D5 Metropolitan D350 - finally arrived after the cyber attack.
MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - sold....MY2019 D5 HSE SD6 - sold

I had mine refitted by National Windscreens (My LandRover dealer choice) after it developed a leak. They did it at my home and told me it might not need recalibration (it didn’t) but that they charged half what JLR charge for the same service. So I am sure Autoglass do it.
Sadly it developed another leak 4 years later. I am about to change the windscreen to hopefully solve it and probably use Autoglass for my greater convenience.
A bit of a concern to hear 4 years later it developed a leak. I mean, how does a leak 'develop' if the screen is properly fitted and sealed then it's sealed - that seal should not degrade, particularly not in as little as 4 years.
After building the D5 in England then Slovakia for 9 years D5 windshield leaks continue to plague the model.
At this point the only conclusion is that’s it’s a poor design with only temporary fixes . Full stop .
I have a 2017 model, removed and resealed windscreen in 2019. Leaked again in 2024. Recently the top was resealed with a rubber seal. Many modules and fuse blocks replaced. But it’s still a brilliant car with only 65k miles.

We’ll talk about coincidence! I too picked up a crack this week. I went on line to insurers which directed me seamlessly to Autoglass. The initial annoyance was that Autoglass first appointment was in 10days time!! Not sure if that was screen supply or they are so busy? Luckily we are at home for the next couple of weeks anyway.
They do state they will need to calibrate the cameras and are required to take the vehicle for a road test.
Fingers crossed they…
1) seal the windscreen well 2) calibrate the camera to work correctly and 3) it continues so for more than the next 4 years.
Did you manage to get them to authorise a genuine / OEM windscreen?
I had a right mess about a few years back with screens. I damaged one and they replaced with (I assume) a cheaper non Pilkington screen. I went through about 3 of these in about 6 months as they kept picking up bad chips.
Eventually after a battle, I managed to get a Pilkington Opticool screen fitted and I haven’t had a chip since
