    Polybush refit.

    Hi All,

I'm toying with the idea of replacing the suspension rubbers with a polybush set.

I'm thinking of longer life and MOT checks.

There seems to be a few different views on their use with the view that ride quality and road noise are unduly affected.

Anyone got any view on the pros and cons of this change?

    Hi All,

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

I'm in two minds really, best to fit polybush, or carry on and replace rubbers as and when?

I only have a bit of feedback from D3 and D4 owners who tried fitting full sets of polybushes. The general opinion was that they had a detrimental and unsettling effect on the handling and most who tried them out went back to rubber bushes.

I was tempted...from the wear and tear point of view...but a full set was £650 or so plus the fair amount of spanner work required to fit them. Like you, I decided to wait and see if I got feedback from someone who had fitted a set to a D5 before finding out 1st hand that the Bling Barge handled like a 3 ton Renault Clio after going through the considerable effort of fitting them. Shocked

    Thanks Mole,

I think I'll hang on too, until some other brave soul has the b@lls to try it out!

On the D3/4 forums and speaking to mates who have fitted them the feedback isn’t totally positive, they said the ride was harsher, the suspension wore out quicker and had to replace the bushes a lot sooner than expected, one mate said the bushes put strain on the suspension and caused a premature failure of one of the arms. He didn’t think it offered the same flex as the rubber bushes
