What should I pay for an air-con re-gas?
Car's going into the dealer for an MOT in a couple of weeks, and I'm conscious it's not had an air-con re-gas in the time I've owned it. Given refrigerant leak rates, and wanting it to perform well for the summer, I was going to get it done at the same time.
Dealer (Surrey-based) has quoted £285, which sounds pretty steep. What would you expect to pay, bearing in mind location in the South East?
And if cheaper at a fast-fit place, is it a very commonplace job a Kwik-Fit or similar could do, or would you not risk them touching a Land Rover system?
Any advice appreciated, thank you!

Halfords Autocentre…..
https://www.halfords.com/air-conditioning/
From memory …£135 last month. Excellent service.
Mine hadn’t beet touched for 5 -6 years…..just needed regas.
Whoever you choose make sure they can handle the R1234yf gas in the Disco.
Incidentally…they do my MOT as well. Join their motoring club premium membership for £54 (annual renewal) and get your mot FREE. Plus a £10 voucher to use in store or online ( eg. autoglym products ) and 5% off repairs (eg aircon!! )
It’s too easy to throw your pride and joy at a dealer but you pay double the going rate imho. Fair enough going there for servicing to keep service record for warranty etc. but I avoid them like the plague for eveything these days.
The rubber strap that retains the petrol cap broke. Dealer quote £35. Bought one from Temu £1.80 fitted it in 3mins …..in the rain!
Dealer pricing causes my Yorkshire Thrift Gland to throb.

Thank you - that's really useful information. Will get this sorted in the next few weeks, ready for the summer melt to begin.
