I thought a white one would be a nice change...since I'd never owned a white car ever and when I decided to pull the trigger on replacing my old Corris grey D4, my wife led with the comment of. "Don't you dare buy another grey Land Rover, they do make them in other colours!"
I kinda like grey, even if it irritates Mrs Mole... but I gave in since both the D2's I had before the D4 were grey too. I suppose it's kinda a farmer thing with the grey Land Rovers...
The nice bit about grey Land Rovers is that you usually have to drive around mucky lanes and fields for a week or two to make them look dirty....now I have a white Land Rover that gets dirty even if I just walk past it in the yard with wellies on.
Joking aside, hope you enjoy your white D5...I certainly have in the couple of years I've owned one. It's a nice contrast in white with black wheels and exterior trim (I have my 2017 HSE 'black packed'). The Bling Barge has the all black interior roof lining and ebony leather seats too which is nice.

I was much the same to be fair, despite Mrs Mole's dislike of grey Land Rovers. I was originally looking at at a few nice 2016 euro 6 compliant D4's to replace my older 2015 euro 5 one (no DPF) which had over 270k miles on the clock so was getting a bit long in the tooth.
It ended up that a 2017 or 2018 D5 HSE with 75k miles came in at a bit cheaper than most of the D4's with similar mileage I had been looking at. I've never had cause to regret buying the D5...even though I still miss the split tailgate of the D4 like everyone else who's ever had one.
In the end, especially with D4's of a year or two older being similarly priced to a decent 2017 or 2018 D5...it came down to a simple choice. Did I really want another ladder chassis Land Rover that I'd be welding plates on in a couple of years or go with the aluminium monocoque D5 that I wouldn't have to...Living up here on a small, remote rock in the north sea where Land Rovers come to die, it wasn't too hard a choice.
I picked the 2017 HSE I have now over a later 2018 model because I'm old fashioned and really don't like full digital TFT dashboards. The 3.0L TD6 on the 2017 D5 only has a single turbo rather than the twin turbo SDV6 on 2018-2021 models. Exactly the same Ford Lion engine (same as the D4 too) but the twin turbos can end up being slightly more mechanically fussy over time if like me, you DIY the servicing and maintenance.
