Warranty recommendations
Now I’m going to be the owner of Disco can anyone recommend a decent warranty company they’ve used as in had to claim. I’m always sceptical about warranty’s aftermarket or otherwise

I used the official Land Rover one on my last Discovery. Expensive, but you can pay monthly, and no hassle with the one(minor) claim I made.

I also use the Land Rover extended warranty but more out of fear if anything goes wrong. I have used it a couple of times and the response is excellent. Had a bit of trouble once getting a loan car which took a few days as the warranty people say contact Land Rover dealer where car is and vice versa. Overall the warranty and road side assistance package is excellent but the cost is getting silly!

I’ll have to look into this again when I put the details of my car in the result was that I couldn’t get a warranty!? So unless I did something wrong? But I’ll try again

The LR warranty is run by Car Care Plan Limited so if you call them direct it will be slightly cheaper.

How does the Land Rover extended warranty compare with the 3 year warranty you get with a new vehicle?

I spoke to LR and I couldn’t get a quote online because it’s for renewing and extending existing warranty. I’d need to pay my local dealer £250 for a health check 🙄 more money! then they’d decide if could get a warranty and how much. What’s a ball park figure? I don’t want to pay £250 to be told some extortionate quote

LR is about £1500 per year now for their all options included policy. There are definite upsides though, if you have a problem and call LR assist (who are very good) and LR assist send your vehicle in to the dealers for repair, you get priority at the dealers and a hirer car for up to seven days.
If you have another warranty, the dealers will probably say its 6 weeks before they can even look at it - and if you want a courtesy car it will be 3 months before they can book it in.

The price you pay for a LR warranty is dependent on the age and mileage. They won’t cover, money wise for anymore than you actually paid for the vehicle. Therefore if you purchased it new for £50k, that’s the limit, on the other hand if you purchased it used for say £10k, then that’s the limit they will pay.
For a 2018 with 63k miles, I was paying £1620 in 2025. If I’d held onto it, then in May this year it was going up to over £1700.
If you take your vehicle into the dealership for a repair, they don’t give you a curtesy car under the policy. It’s only if you break down at least half a mile away from the dealership and the car can’t be driven in. LR assist or the AA determine that if you call them out.
The dealership have to diagnose the problem within 48 hours. They don’t have to fix it within that time. So you could still wait a while to get it back.
The policy booklet is online. Like with most insurances, it’s down to you to read the small print to make sure it suits your needs.
When the vehicle gets to 10 years old or 100k miles, whichever is sooner, it reverts to the select coverage. It then places a limit on basically what and how much they will pay for repairs in the insured year. I think it was £4k. In my opinion, it wasn’t worth holding onto the vehicle past that as a new engine could be £16k plus.
