Getting wires from the roof into the car
Thanks to BAZ8046 I had a look about a route for wires into the D5 from the roof. Apologies if this is covered somewhere else but I couldn't find it so thought I would post here with pics!
Entry is behind the plastic trim that runs from the boot seal to the tail lights on the wing.
1. Remove the boot seal first from the top of the trim to the bottom of the boot apperture.
2. Remove the plastic trim. This is removed simply by pulling - it has fixed clips not the singles use ones and needs a bit of a tug from the TOP first. The bottom fixer is fixed to the car and has a button on the trim that slides into it, so when the top clips are clear, pulling UP on the trim will remove it from the car.
3. This lets you see the inner trim which has 'flaps' to allow cabin air to be vented
4. Pull the inner trim to remove and you will see into the rear of the wing with the white sound deadening material.
5. Remove the drivers side cover for the Jack and remove the jack
6. On the rear of the metal (towards the rear light cluster, pull back the adhesive strip lightly covering a hole in the metal which gives access to the entry point you have made from the outside.
7. Finally lift the soundproofing from the outside to expose the hole in the metal from the outside
Cables can now be passed from the roof down the inside of the tailgate adjacent to the sealing rubber, under the trim and through the inner trim and through into the car coming out beside the Jack stowage which is handy for accessing the fuses and importantly and EARTH point below where the Jack sits.
