Hi
Anyone had any solution to the plastic around the wing mirrors? Mine should be black but they are turning slightly into blue. This is not the wing mirrors themselves but the plastic that goes around and against the door. I don't want to replace them but an alternative solution would be nice Maybe a trim restoring kit or sprayed gloss black....... Any thoughts?
Some form of exterior trim restorer or valeting product like Back to black usually works well...have a look around your local motor factors or Halfrauds...they've always got a ton of possible options on the shelf.

I’ve got the same issue. It can’t be polished out because it’s not a surface effect. The UV stabiliser isn’t working properly in those parts ( like white plastic items turning yellow) They must be a different supplier to the other plastic parts on the bodywork as they stay black.
If they haven’t changed the spec…replacing them will do the same eventually.
The only way would be to have them resprayed.
Think I will leave mine….and curse JLR every time I look at them.
…to do some of the black trim behind rear wheel arches on another car, that have become a bit dull.
I will try it on these blue parts and report back…..you never know!
I’ve used something similar in my D3 days and can only say it was terrible. It was basically black paint masquerading as a brush on gel. It looked ok’ish on first application but quickly deteriorated and got worse over time. The thing I’d painted quickly looked worse than what I was hoping to cover and I had to repaint it often. You got a foam stick brush applicator with it and I swore I’d never ever, ever use that stuff again on any car. I hope you have more luck.😳
Best advice, send it back. Sorry.
For a proper matching finish on those painted gloss black plastic bits... they're a bit more complicated to refurbish as ideally, you'd have to use an airbrush with 2pac paint, several coats of lacquer and cabinet heat drying through every stage of the painting...but not everyone has a spray painting bay hiding in a corner of their shed.
As much as I do...I rarely find use for my little paint shop these days, not since I stopped vandalising my motorbikes with amateur custom art anyway.
As a compromise to the time and effort intensive air brushing of a pair of relatively small and unimportant plastic bits...since I never particularly liked those mirror trims being shiny in the first place...I popped them off, prepped them with wet and dry then undercoated and rattle canned them with the ubiquitous VHT satin black non chip engine paint to match in with the rest of my black exterior trim. At least they now won't fade or discolour and touching them up with back to black or exterior trim valeting finish will only take me 5 minutes. I did both of my mirror caps at the same time.
