Just noticed yesterday that scratches are across both doors. The sun was shining on the car yesterday and even though car was not clean you can clearly see it. I think looks like a brillo pad was used on it or one of those green pads to remove the glue. (Methylated spirits or sticky stuff remover work a treat without damaging the paintwork, as does petrol as long as it's washed of asap). The paint has a hazy/ faded look too it now. It's a Censored joke. Never even tried to polish it out FGS. Once taken off they will bend and warp like you said. I can only think they put them above the door crease by mistake and then refitted them below once the mistake was noticed plus that are already peeling. Once water ingresses into the pad the glue will just come off. Plus it's coincidental the scratches along both door panels are virtually same width and size as the protectors are. Anyway after yesterdays fiasco with the power loss and reoccurring burning smell, not to mention the little tiff in the car we had, my wife's not having any of it. LR will be getting a bill to cover the school runs and her taxi receipts both too and from work. Said car is a potential death trap. What if she was overtaking on a normal road and no power all of a sudden, or pulling out if a busy junction. plus the engine smoking problem is still there as is the toxic plastic burning smell.
    SO ITS A DEFINITE REJECTION!
Plus the paintwork is scratched all over on every panel. I doubt that even the car detailer can fix them when i sent him photos. He was so shocked at the state of it. Said he can't work miracles. Needs a probable respray on the doors he said if am honest, if he can't polish or buff it out. Asked my why I accepted it in that state?? How it got into this state is beyond me. Looked ok on pick up initially, but it was polished, and the weather was dull. I still noticed 2 scratches on pick up and spent 30 mins sorting those out. Had i noticed the paint was that bad and the accessories badly fitted I would have walked out of the garage and taken my deposit back there and then.
Hopefully LR HQ phone me tomorrow as they still not emailed me as I requested them too when I got the surprise phone call last week. I will be sending them a portfolio of photos and emails, to see if they think this is acceptable getting a car in this state. Sad

Not your fault Craig, plus I thank everyone for their support on here and putting up with my sounding like a broken record rants. I do apologise. Am afraid that rejection is the only answer now. This has been so embarassing for me spending all that money on what is supposed to be a premium product Sad

Well fingers crossed they manage too find me a brand new First Edition or can make me a 1 from scratch, which I highly doubt. Other alternative is an Hse Luxury which I don't want as thats what I did not order. Looks like I may have too move brand if my needs are not met Rolling Eyes

My advice to you, if that is the path that you propose to take, is to return it to the supplying dealer at your earliest convenience.

Provide them with a letter detailing the reason for the rejection. But, remember, rejection only covers faults that were present at the time of delivery. Damage caused by fitting accessories, however badly they were fitted, does not obligate the dealer to accept a rejection.

And, above all, stop using the car.

Well if the fault was present at the time of pick up and I had known about it, it would not have left the forecourt !!!

Thats a grey area, hence 30 days for initial rejection. LR HQ dealing with it. They can arrange for it to be sorted and picked up. I have wasted enough time on it taking time of work. 300 mile round trip, plus am not walking all the way back after dropping it off.

Yes I know about the accessories but what about the poor paint work. Cars certainly not fit for purpose with regards to the engine issues and after yesterdays issues, that's sealed it's fate. I was all for giving it a chance. Like you said I should not be using the car but it's only the second time I have had it out of town. I did not know it was going to give more issues otherwise we would have hired a car yesterday instead.

Polite? A real bite the tongue needed. No point in antagonising them. I have been admiring your patience throughout this saga. Hope there is a successful outcome.

Well I am all for giving someone a second chance, mistakes happen and can be rectified, and we are all human, at the end of the day.

By the way my version of polite is totally different to her version that I can assure you Laughing

LR are not party to your legal contract. Their interest is to get the car fixed, not rejected.
