I hope he does. I've told SWMBO that it's his elves that are building mine and he's paying.

Ok you lot!
Santa does exist-he eats the mince pies I leave out and drinks the whisky!
His elves exist - as I always get what they've made.
The factory is heated by Dragon's breath and the parts delivered by unicorns on rainbows.

Why does it take so long from build dates to delivery. I thought these vehicles took around 20 hours to build. Where are the holdups?

My D5 order dates are.
Last Possible amendment. 26/01/17
Build Date. 24/02/17
Delivery Date. 31/03/17
Was told the time between build & delivery should only be two weeks so they fully expect an earlier delivery for me 😳😳😳
Does anyone know earliest the car can get registered? Is it the delivery date.

The delay must when the vehicles come off the assembly line. We were told that over 200 car transporters leave Solihull daily but presumably the production line doesn't empty on to the transporters. There must be some sort of QC/QI before that and my understanding is that this process takes a few days.
However, if the production line produces a vehicle every 90 seconds, the QC must keep pace or the factory would grind to a halt. So no nearer an answer.

Regarding the QC/QI, quality assurance stuff.

This gives a bit of info but not enough for us punters. As it's automated, I guess that it can be done a couple of weeks in advance of the vehicle going on the road or on the day that the dealer gets it in stock but the dealer has to have the vehicle on his premises (that's how it was explained to me). If your vehicle is to be delivered to you on 31 March It will need to be taxed from 1 March. Under the old system, ISTR that the dealers could get a reduced rate for that one day or few days at the end of a month but DVLA have probably closed that door.

Thanks Bill
I'd rather be taxed from 1st March than the 1st April.
So still down to Lady Luck!
