2019 Discovery SDV6 HSE Corris Grey

    HSE TD6 Loire Blue ordered

    Hi All,

I'm a new member here although past member of the 3/4 Forum. Have owned Discos 2, 3 HSE and 4 HSE but in 2014 abandoned LR for BMW X5 (excellent engineering and reliability but lacks LR's pedigree, overall capability and versatility). Plus, where we live (rural) LR's everywhere especially Discos so we must keep up!
Sorely missed Disco ownership and lately couldn't stop researching the '5' and building online various versions whilst addictively reading this Forum and members' various experiences, both good and bad. Hovered between HSE and HSE Lux but the latter, although extremely well equipped, contains stuff we would never use as it will only be wife and I in it 99% of the time. For instance rear seat entertainment screens, intelligent seat fold etc.
Well, today we had a test drive at our local dealership near Swindon, Wiltshire and landed up placing an order.

Factory build spec with options as follows:

    Colour Loire Blue
    Interior Nimbus/Expresso Windsor leather
    Finishers Natural Shadow Oak
    Wheels 20" 10 Split-Spoke Style '1011'
    Electric front tilt/slide sunroof
    Headlights Adaptive LED
    Rear Privacy Glass
    Full length Silver Roof Rails
    Premium Carpet Mats
    Surround Camera System
    Wade Sensing
    InControl Secure
    Capability Plus Pack
    Drive Pro Pack
    Versatile Climate Comfort Pack
    5 Year Service Plan
    Front & Rear mudflaps
    Rear loadspace rubber mat

Dealer advised that build could be July but, believe it or not, we asked for delivery not before end of October due to other commitments. I don't know whether this voluntary delay will result in a 2018 model spec and perhaps the 3.0 litre straight six Ingenium engine, but dealer will keep us posted. If anybody has any intelligence on the six cylinder Ingenium engines, would be pleased to hear from you.

I don't know whether we will be able to resist and bear the long wait but as soon as we take delivery I'll post some pics.

Delete the Premium mats as they are rubbish, get the dealer to supply the Accessory mats as they are far superior. Thumbs Up

My dealer has told me that ingenium engine will be fitted from end of Aug build.

When I'm not in the operating theatre, I'm mountain biking, spending time with my family, running and socialising. I have a Discovery 5 HSE Lux with pretty much every option ticked. This is my first ever Land Rover. Been a rocky road with regards to reliability but we're getting there.

Any specs of the 3 litre ingenium engine with regards to bhp, fuel economy and acceleration etc, or is it still a tightly guarded secret. Am wondering does the Jag F Pace possibly already have it ???

The only reports that I've seen on the Ingenium 6 cylinder specifications so far have been unsourced journalistic guesswork Sad

sunfun, thanks for tip re factory carpet mats. Will ask dealer to delete from options list.
Was thinking of getting a rubber set for the winter anyway as it gets filthy out here in the Wiltshire sticks.

I could not find any reference to new 3.0 litre engine or the Discovery, plenty on the Discovery Sport and the uprated 2.0 litre engine?

For some reason the intro bit of the article where he talks about the six cylinder doesn't appear through the link.
    Here it is C&P

    â–ş New 6cyl Ingenium engine for 2017
    ► It’s a 3.0-litre straight six
â–ş Power in the 275-500bhp range

Jaguar and Land Rover, the two best-selling British premium brands, are phasing out their dated V6 motors in favour of a new inline six-cylinder as part of the new Ingenium engine family.

Engineering chiefs are confident the straight six perfectly complements rear-wheel drive which remains a Jaguar trademark - yet it is equally suited for the bigger Land Rover and Range Rover models.

Jaguar’s new straight sixes in detail

It was only a matter of time before the new in-house-developed four-cylinder Ingenium engine range spawned an extra pair of cylinders. This is a modular family, remember, and the new factory in Wolverhampton has been built to produce a wide range of engines.

The new six-cylinder due in late 2017 is a direct-injection turbocharged 3.0-litre unit which will be offered in petrol and diesel form. Eventually, the power output is going to be staggered in three stages for executive and express iterations, which brings the total to six variations according to CAR magazine’s sources:

    Petrol six-cylinder: 300/400/500bhp
    Diesel six-cylinder: 275/335/400bhp
Key benefits include lighter weight, reduced consumption and emissions and, last but not least, a strong link to Jaguar’s impressive straight six history. Expect to see the engines in Jag XEs, XFs, F-Paces and XJs as well as Range Rovers, Range Sports and the next Discovery.

    Straight sixes make a comeback

Many premium manufacturers - including BMW and Mercedes-Benz - are shifting to a modular engine strategy, common to which is the 500cc-per-cylinder optimum capacity.

But it’s telling that Jaguar is following in the footsteps of BMW; we did not expect anything less from a top management that was trained in, and is still strongly influenced by, Munich.
