I guess the ability to lower the rear of the car was an attempt to address the height issue, but it still ends up fairly high.

I wonder if they will revert to a split rear tailgate on the D6 ??? Rolling Eyes

Personally I don't see a problem with the height, I've never let my dog jump in or out of any LR, always lift her in, less risk of injury.

    She seems happy

Would be great if they did change things- we are seriously considering giving the D5 a miss over practicality of the rear. Current plan is to keep the D4 to cover the practical side of our needs which is just plain daft when you think about it.

I would like to see a Split tailgate option, manual opening option and more rugged load area.

Maybe they could offer as a 'Utility Package"" via SVO to avoid egg on face.

Landrovers and Dogs, its the perfect partnership or has been for us until the D5 came along. Tested ours in the D5 and they don't fit not even close Big Cry

I've bought 5x D3/4s since 2005 and right now my head is overriding my heart and saying don't go through with the D5 for the sake of it your nuts Sad

    I know Laughing

I want a more modern D4 I've been desperately waiting for the D5 for 4 years or more. I love technology and want more modern engines too. I love the D4 but that said I am a bit but bored with it !

Don't get me wrong a like the D5 a lot from all angles other than the rear and like the cabin too. The engines are a disapointment but its the rear loadspace that is causing me the most problems as its just not suitable for our needs. I really want one and am in a position to be able to have one as well as the D4 but that just doesn't pass the sense check. It was actually SWMBO's idea to keep the D4 as well Shocked

That was my main reason for changing to the 5, I wanted something a bit of a step up and in a lot of areas it is but there are a few areas it is a backwards step. I'm just lucky it still fits my uses, though I'm still not sure I would take another.

You'll get used to the rear it becomes the norm once you own it.

Looks wise I'm sure it will grow but the real blocker is the practicality, it just isn't going to replace the D4 in totality for us the load space is too small so we need to keep the D4.

Maybe if LR came up with a LWB D5 with focus on larger boot space and a Split tailgate. Please LR if your listening Bow down

Sounds like a D5 commercial cannot come soon enough for some................ but then the complaints would be it is only a 2 seater.....

LWB would maybe also sort other issues too like the second row seats leg room, without losing or compromising the "seven seat" feature. It could also make a platform for a more realistic commercial, or other versions i.e. Pick-up.
Suggestion for this mooted on the D3/4.site

2nd row leg room! there's acres far more than the D3/4

At almost 5 meters long I really don't see how long it needs to be? In car parks it's like turning an oil tanker in the Clyde.
