A Warn Zeon 10 S is what's fitted to the LRE car that was on press drives.

I haven't seen a full kit available to buy at the moment.

I saw those pics very soon after the Utah events, and sent them to my dealer, after spending much time on google trying to figure out who made and fitted the winch bracket. As it made sense that the winch had to be installed POST arrival into the States. He forwarded the pics to his JLR representative with corporate, with the instructions "I need this for a customer ". Reply came back after a few days, "it's a custom bracket, and is not official Rover kit, additionally it's not crash tested". Never did find out who fabricated the mount.

I have no idea of the legalities of this which is why I am asking, but if you remove or alter any or all parts of the factory bumper to say install something like that, does that mean you become liable for what happens if they say something didn't work right due to that in a accident?

My guess might be if its something made up by the factory or some other established maker, then not so much.

But if you have fabricate up parts on your own, then your completely on the hook.

Here in the UK any mods must be declared to the insurance company, otherwise insurance is rendered void if your unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, and they discover the mods.

The winch could possibly interfere with the airbags not activating in a front, head on crash. Plus not sure if the winch has been crash tested so too speak.

I remember the debate with the steel bull bars possibly affecting the cars airbags years back and insurers were not insuring drivers, as said they where a danger to other road users and pedestrians. I had to take my one off my D1.

Range Rovers had plastic/foam ones for a while - pointless Shocked

Would expect that if LR release a winch bumper it would be crash tested and all airbags work as designed. I wont consider 3rd party ones.

    I totally agree Thumbs Up
Best too keep on the right side of the law, what with all the anti 4x4 tree huggers already complaining about 4x4s. Give them something else to crow about with absolutely no background knowledge whatsoever!! Shocked

Yes, LR has offered "factory" mounted winch kits in the US in the past, specifically the D2.
ARB has offered "crash tested" air bag compliant bull bars in the US for the D3 (see the pic of my D3).
Fortunately we don't have the extensive anti 4x4 crowd, in regard to modifications here in the US as you do in Europe.

Winches were offered for the Defender as a dealer accessory and for the Discovery.

Am guessing pretty much most here have herd that the people running Special Vehicle Operations are planning some kind of more off road version of the Discovery.

From what I've read of the topic I think what things are going to be done to it are in the very early decision stages, but I just wonder how much of the things they might do to could then be purchased and put on a non-SVO Discovery?

Honestly I wonder what could even be done to it to make it more off road capable aside from just some bolt on stuff like perhaps a winch.

Perhaps it would be fun to start a thread on speculations Very Happy
