    WeatherTech Floor Liners

Just received them . A little annoyed the fit isn't 100%, but can probably live with the gaps. The thing I don't understand is the door sill coverage is different for driver vs. passenger (check for the "Discovery" logo). Never having WeatherTech products before, maybe this isn't unusual.

    WeatherTech for UK?

These look superior compared to the rubber floor mats by Landrover as an accessory. I went on the European WeatherTech site with UK option but Disco 5 is not even listed. But I've enquired with WeatherTech about plans, if any, to make these available in the UK for right hand drive. I'll post an update when they reply.

I see what you are saying but whats odd is the width of the part that is up and over seems the same between the two.

Just to mention and I could be wrong on this, but I looked around for mats that had this much coverage myself and there isn't much at the moment so looked at the WeatherTechs quite a bit

An again I could be wrong on this but in doing so I did seem to come across some things that made me think these are actually the same ones that would fit a RRS?

Can't remember just where or what is was that made me think that, but just seemed to be the case.

Having said all that I will say I have to agree that even with the oddity you mentioned I think they look pretty good too.

Actually one quick question if you don't mind I had on these and am just saying/asking this as a personal preference, but in looking at these yourself, just how hard would it be to remover that WeatherTech name plate if you wanted?

Does it seem really fused on there as I'm just thinking with the conditions its meant for it might be.

Or does it seem like it could be pulled out without damaging the mat?

    Thanks

yeah, the width is the same at the exterior edges of the mat. Where the difference is in the car itself, the plastic pillar that rises up from the door sill is narrower on the driver's side. WeatherTech obviously made a choice to follow the lines of this pillar on the driver's side and on the passenger, instead follow the plastic trim on the floor up to the metal name plate instead.

and bingo, you get a prize! I just checked and the SKU is the same for the Discovery and the RRS! This would explain how they got it to market so quickly. Smile

found this pic on rrsport.co.uk, looks very similar:

The plate is one piece of plastic and it's set into a well, with a lip. It looks like you could get a small screwdriver under there and work one's way around prying it up. The question is how strong is the glue and what kind of residue it might leave. Might be easier to just put some matte black tape over it. Smile

well, it's a different animal. It's a rather hard, textured plastic as opposed to a flexible, rubber mat. Made for increased area coverage and ease of cleaning. Speaking of which, it is a bit of a pain getting it off the retaining fasteners in the carpet because it's rather rigid. If I was taking it to a car wash, I'd probably remove them myself first as it requires some finesse and not let them man-handle them off.

FYI. WeatherTech got back to me and said the mats are correctly sized and pointed out what what we already know, that the panels on either side of the front are of different widths and thus the coverage at the sill is different. Still waiting for confirmation on it being the same kit as the RRS, but I think we already know it is. Smile

I also asked about their rear cargo liner for the D5 and the CSR said it's in the design stage and should be ready to ship (in the U.S. at least) within 4-8 weeks.

EDIT: WeatherTech confirmed that the front mats are the same kit for the RRS.

I have a connection to the CEO here in Chicago, shall I relay to him that they are being lazy by not offering a D5 specific solution? Rolling with laughter

I have them in my D3, the emblem can be pulled out easily on mine.
