Just been out and snapped these the bars ride just above the open sun roof. i couldn't find anything to measure with Embarassed but my iPhone 7 JUST fits under the bars on its side probably with 5mm spare.

I just don't get why they have designed them like that it just looks ridiculous Confused They could almost go straight across from the bars and still clear the sunroof. I'd be interested to hear what its like with a roof box on theres one heck of a gap for wind between the two.

D5 with box vs D4 with Box, the box just clears the shark fin on the D4.

    New Thule Roofbars

I've just seen that Thule started offering Crossbars for the Disco5 Smile

    https://www.thule.com/en-gb/gb/roof-rack/car-racks

The price is similar to the original ones, I just can't see if they are much lower in overall height when mounted.

US either, though going to the UK site you can at least take a look at what options will be available.

Hi all, thought i would post some pics of the Thule black roof bars installed on my car, They look brilliant and are significantly lower than the LandRover ones, they also allow the sunroof to open (not fitted the roof box on to try yet, however would allow you to partially open the sunroof for definite).

(Struggling with the pics being added to the gallery!)

They certainly seem to blend in well with the dark background Laughing

    Roof Rails

I posted a few months ago, but omitted to update!

I have a light bar mounted on Thule crossbars, originally fitted on a D2, then with new feet on a D4.
I've put the D2 feet back on, they grab the rails and fit perfectly in any position on the D5 rails.
The rails sit at a lower level than the LR ones and in addition are not limited by the fixing positions in the D5 rails.

Would you mind posting a pic of how these look?

still can't get the D5 Thule kits in the US, may have to import from UK. Neutral

Does anyone know if any other JLR vehicle has roof rails like on the D5?

    Andy,

The Full Fat Range Rover (L405) has the same set up, although the bars themselves look more like the OEM bars on the D4.

More roof bar positions, rather than the two fixed positions, would be very useful.

I wonder if anyone's going to be brave enough to drill extra holes in the rails and then shorten the bars if/as necessary (looking at the manual for the FF's bars, there a little room for adjustment as standard, but it looks like it might be possible to remove the fittings from the ends of the bars and hacksaw a short section off! Shocked )
