    3.0 Litre Si6 Petrol

Can anyone tell me how old the 3.0 L petrol engine is ???

Am assuming its relatively new ??

If not is there a replacement due in the near future??

Has anyone taken delivery yet, and any issues with the engine ??

    Thanks Thumbs Up

I've had mine since the start of May. It's been good, with no problems.

Thanks Pete, that's good too hear.

Incidentally how many miles are you roughly getting on a full tank on a long run??

Also in town driving, what are you averaging mpg wise?

    Thanks Thumbs Up

Did a *brisk* run from Rotherham to Dundee a couple of weeks ago, followed by a trip to St. Andrews. I filled up on the way back from St. Andrews and had used 90% of the tank by then : 345 miles covered.

Indicated mpg was about 10% too optimistic. I calculated about 23mpg and it showed about 25.

The bulk of my driving is urban, and with my style of driving I typically get 24mpg.

Have you sold all 3 Shocked

Hmmmm gutless in what way power or fuel consumption ??

Less than 1 sec difference between petrol and diesel, 0- 60. I would have thought with just over 80 bhp over the 3 litre diesel that you would get quite a bit more poke, especially for overtaking, but the figures seem too be disappointing Rolling Eyes

I think Land Rover have done the right thing in producing a uk petrol version of the D5. I still have my V8 Disco 3, and didn't buy a D4 because it was only available as a diesel in the uk.

I can't agree that it's gutless, also having a 2012 5.0 s/c sport. The performance of the 3.0 s/c in the D5 has improved as it's run-in over the 3000 miles that I've now covered, and the car responds quickly just like the 5.0 s/c sport.

If LR had made the car any more powerful, it would have just appealed to people who like to drive a big car like an idiot, and I don't think D5 owners are like that. For towing without difficulty, for getting the family around in comfort, and as a work car, the petrol D5 is great.

I'm sure the engine will be replaced by an in-house turbo or twin-turbo petrol at some point over the next couple of years, which may be more powerful, lighter or efficient. I can't see it getting any cheaper, and I doubt it will be supercharged.

JLR had little choice to introduce gasoline fuelled units due to the unprecedented city based hate diesel campaigns

I'm surprised a normally fugal Yorkshire man runs a gasoline fuel vehicle Rolling with laughter

That said the 3.0SC is gutless if you compare it to the competition which I do as my day job

The 3.0d Velar is great if you like that sort of thing I see plenty of idiots driving D5's nothing to do with power at all
