    That was the original plan. But with the uncertainty of the car market they wouldn’t guarantee a good trade in on the D5. Plus I got better spec and more horses under the bonnet, than I had originally wanted.

    Oh and don’t even tempt fate with the dual screens. It’s the door handles I’m more concerned with.

    Best of luck with the new Velar, J77. Luck? You don’t need that with a LR. Wink I’ve enjoyed your posts and followed your experiences with the D5 as they would help me if I ever come to a decision. My needs would be for the 2l engine as I no longer tow. I don’t need a highly specced car either. Always gone for the one in the middle of the range.

    I’m surprised that LRs flagship system hasn’t got the text read out facility.

    How have you got on with the velar.
    Only asking as I have had a loaner for 4 days / 800 miles
    Its a hse D240, aside from the engine noise which sounds rough, and the digital dash doing weird stuff I think It’s a great car, which always does 40+mpg. Shame no heated steering wheel though, still get my D5 back Tuesday.


    Does it suffer from oil dilution, or is that just the d300 Velar?
