Questions before buying - Tow bar and Recovery
Hi
So getting serious this D5 business.
Whats the deal with Rear recovery point? Obviously D4 had a chassis ring behind tow cover?
Also - Dealer says that fixed bars are no longer available on MY19 - Is this correct?
I am sure ill have more questions
Thanks
Jack
EDIT; Also - Fitting tow bar after delivery - Is this not recommended due to the difference between 4 and 5 mounting wise?

For the rear recovery ring on a tow bar model, you simply turn four plastic screws and remove the small skirt to let you get behind the plastics and enable use.
Havent a clue what your dealer is on about. I suspect he’s talking a load of tosh.
Dont know what your on about re fitting towbar after initial purchase. Not recommended because between 4 and 5 mounting? It doesn’t make sense nor have I ever heard it not recommended, could you expand please?

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the reply.
Rear Recovery Point - Understood - thanks
Fixed Bar then
With the tow bar - apologies, badly worded initially. With the old d3/d4 they had the socket in the chassis as standard allowing anyone to easily fit a bar at any point of ownership. <-- Detachable of Fitted
I understand that with the D5 the rear bumper needs to be changed to allow the fixings to fit. With all this faff, and the lose of a chassis socket, am I better off getting the towbar I choose fitted at new or could I save money by getting a tower fitted at a later date.
Hopefully thats a bit better

No problem. I had both a D3 and D4. Yes, purchase a tow ball and electrics and you were away. The D5 is different, but not overly so. The detachable tow bar is solid and the kit includes the electrics. Although I got it fitted at a main dealership, I’d have felt okay doing it myself having looked at the instructions. By comparison the DSport required the exhaust dropped and was a lot more involved plus the rear skirt was massive.
