Smart key deactivated: not able to start the engine!

Wanted to leave this morning, but car apparently not... message that appeared ‘smart key deactivated’. I had used the activity key yesterday to close it and this morning to open and then got the message which means: engine can not be started (all the other things with the key were working). Not nice when you are abroad traveling with 3 small kids. Called my dealer and answer was: take activity key far away, put hazard lights on, press brake, put key under the steering wheel and press start. Didn’t work the first time, but did the second time. So, if you want to steal a jaaaag, RR or disco which was closed with the activity key, this is the way to do it. Thought it would be theft proof, but it’s not (good for me in this case, but doesn’t give me the confidence I had in the activity key as I had before!)

2022 Discovery SDV6 HSE Carpathian Grey

I did think about adding the activity key but felt uneasy about the security. Now I'm glad I didn't add it.

I'll just use the same "Activity Key" solution as I did for the D4 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000VQUUVW
