What’s the real world MPG difference between 3l & 2l diesels

Has anyone driven both the 3l and 2l diesels for a extended period.

What’s the real world difference in MPG?

Am thinking my next one may be the D240

I have about 18,000 miles on my 3L and I average about 23 miles per US gallon around town, and I have achieved over 30 mpg on certain favorable road trip segments on the highway (flat, low elevation, no wind, cruise set at about 75mph).

    You’ll get about another 10mpg from a 2lt.

DieselRanger. It obviously depends on how you drive, in what conditions and if and what you tow. Brit MPG is obviously different to US MPG. A lot of variables to consider.

I have driven 60.000 km with my Discovery SD4 and average 10,7 km/liter.
With my previous car RRS SDV6 (latest model) I have driven 75.000 km, 10,85 km/liter.
Not changed my sportive driving style...

Yep, that's why I noted US gallons and qualified how I get my highest mpg. The math is left up to the reader. Thumbs Up

    No comparison for Td4, but having 9.5 l/100 km (29.73 UK MPG, 24.76 US MPG) in Td6 ATM. That's about 1 l less than in previous 180 kW 6-gear SDV6 D4.

My car has 30k miles on it and the indicated mpg has gone up steadily since about 12k. Mine is a 2017 2.0 SD4

Current average (over 30k) is 36.8mpg (UK)

I have had long journeys where it shows anywhere from 41-52mpg.

    Previous 3.0 SDV6 D4 averaged 28.6mpg over 82k miles.

Hi PCHeaven, I’ve a 3 litre MY 17, just down 11,000 miles and completed first (official) service last week. Since the , I’ve done 700 miles, mostly motorway but with some town work and stop start, we’ve averaged 32.4mpg according to the car computer - and on Sunday evening, I drove a 135 miles stretch from Stoke to London and averaged 34.5mpg. I reckon that it’s on average around 10% better than my D4 Landmark. Hope this helps!
