    2017 Discovery Td6 HSE Lux Waitomo Grey

    Extended mode due to ice buildup


    Was surprised after pulling into parking garage after being out for an afternoon of snowshoeing, that truck went into extended mode after attempting access mode so the wife could exit more easily. It was very cold today, mid teens Fahrenheit so buildup behind front wheel wells was rock hard. Anyhow, truck attempted to lower and could hear crunching sounds from ice buildup in suspension components and had my first “extended” experience in this particular Rover Rolling with laughter

    That's normal, the car senses there is an obstruction and goes into extended mode. I've done that on the D4 by putting the jack under the car then lower it, makes it easier to clean underneath. I haven't had issues with snow here, 41C / 106F today Smile

    Foot on the brake, hold the ‘up’ button for 10secs and try out super-extended 👍

    Thanks, I realize extended mode is normal with an obstruction, just hadn’t anticipated ice buildup resulting in an obstruction. Have tried replicating extended mode with brake press, I don’t think our vehicles here in the States have that capability, probably some sort of liability issue.

    I honestly cannot remember if when I tried if the truck was in gear. I’ll give it a go and report back.

    Extended mode can't be activated manually...but when in Extended mode, you should he able to enter Super Extended mode with a foot on the brake and hold down the 'Up' button for >3 seconds. Supposed to get another lift to max suspension extension... something like 13.9" of ground clearance. Is that what you are referring to?
