Keyless locking
Day three of owning my D5 and the keyless locking is drving mad, is there a secret to get it to lock, bring back the button. Seem to have to hold, grab, rub handle but it doesn't lock.

Also, make sure you are only touching the dimple on the front of handle, and not wrapping hand through handle when you try to lock, or it confuses it.

it took swmbo a long time to get the hang of only touching one part of the handle at a time!

yep, I have to unusally report that this function works perfectly on mine from any door. However the kick to open tailgate works 100% of time if I do it on the passenger side, about 10% if I do it on drivers side...

I find if you wash the car with the keys in your pocket the doors will lock and unlock at random. The boot also. Great fun when it opens itself just as you hit it from the side with the power wash. If you have real trouble with the kick gesture tailgate then just buy a dog. Every time you walk it past the car the boot will open. Rarely works when I try it though.

I put the keys on the drivers seat while I am washing it.

You could always completely disable keyless entry if you wanted to, and rely on buttons on key fob alone

I found that the best way to lock the car is to just touch with ONE finger the dedicated area of the handle, the other fingers and part of the hand not touching the handle at all. If you start putting the hand of other fingers at the same time on the handle, the system gets confused and closing is difficult.
With regard washing, I either leave the key in the car or put it in Vallet mode - this avoids the trunk opening while you're washing the back of the car

No problem with locking mine - one finger only. Only time it doesn’t work is if I have too many things in my pocket and the key signal is blocked.
Oh, and I don’t wash it

have to say, if theres one thing I've never had a problem with is locking using the touch buttons (and opening and closing the tailgate with the foot gesture). Its very rare I actually use the remote unless going to get something from the boot on the drive at home when I tend to open it and close it by remote and leave the keys in the house.

Do the keys go to sleep on the D5 now or are they active all the time?

I’m the slightly OCD person who like to double press the lock on the keyfob to hear the beep and get the extra security with the double locking
