With all these systems, depending on technology that ages rapidly, I wonder what's the calculated maximum age of a D5?

Reasonable it's can't be more than 20 years. My guess is LR only imagine they can stretch to 15 years then it's time to move on again.

A real shame for us who like to keep our vehicles running for generations. Today's cars are consumables just like computers and phones.

Strange comments for a posting of an owners manual......

    But since you have posted......

I can only imagine the damage your engine is doing to my environment.

Euro 6 vehicles will help keep air clean & stop the " ban the car brigade"

Thanks for posting the video manual, I've watched all the sections previously and it really shows how things moved on with new features. I really love new technology and it's also my livelihood, working with development of automotive technologies for the next generation vehicles.

My reflection after watching it was just how the lifespan of vehicles shorten and with the price increases the cost per year is escalating. Owning some Series vehicles as well as saving some Discovery 2's of the last iteration of the RRC to become future classics it was just a reflection of how will the enthusiasts be able to keep the D5 running after 30+ years.

Answering my own question, we in the automotive industri only calculates with 15 years life for our products, I assume LR have a similar lifespan in mind for their products.

I will be at the local dealers around here as soon as their first show room Discovery 5's arrive in April. And most likely I will own one of them as well.

Apologies for hi-jacking the thread. Back to the owners manual. This is highly recommended reading.

D5 lifespan will as with all cars depend on owners dedication, certainly the "all" aluminium will help.

Slot in /replaceable electronics will help.

The aftermarket repair/diagnostics industry evolves, this will also help.

The Discovery iGUIDE is available.... a much inproved owners manual.

Is this long video owners manual available separated by section?

It's a YouTube video, note the quote marks I gave it.
