430 miles and back in the dealers
Well this morning my wife went to start the D5 but it didn't want to know. Lights on but wouldn't turn over. Called assistance and they checked the battery which was fine and did some other bits but it was having none of it so it ended up on a truck to the dealers and we have a Range Rover Sport in its place for the time being.
As of closing time, the dealer was waiting for feedback from JLR on their data upload.
When I'm not in the operating theatre, I'm mountain biking, spending time with my family, running and socialising. I have a Discovery 5 HSE Lux with pretty much every option ticked. This is my first ever Land Rover. Been a rocky road with regards to reliability but we're getting there.

Well I had a spin in it on the weekend, I'm off this weekend and the plan was for a drive out with the caravan on the back too.

No idea, I wasn't there but it went on the back of the truck. Watch this space, we'll need that back by the weekend or a 7 seater of some sort as the eldest two have friends over.

Well it's alive again. A software fault with the ignition sequence something or other. In fairness the sales guy called me too in order to follow up which I thought was a nice touch.
I asked if there were any more issues they were having. He said off-the-record that I had a lucky escape buying the HSE Lux. He said they were having issues with the First Editions coming through as mis-builds and wrongly specified. Not sure if anyone else has found this. I was very tempted with the First Edition but colour combo was important.
My wife is collecting the Discovery this afternoon so fingers crossed.

When we looked at the XC90, to be fair to Volvo they had all the First Editions on the road ahead of the other models so the folks who had shelled out for one of those actually had the feeling that they had a special car. To my mind, JLR has missed a trick with this and just seen the model as a cash cow. Try building a first edition Velar and that will really make your eyes water.

Happened with they Evoque, cars were delayed so started to rush them through, things were missed of the build and weren't being picked up at QC. Possible it's happening here?

A colleague had an early Evoque and had delays due to paint supplies then. After the tsunami in Japan the main supplier of the metallic flakes went out of action and caused mayhem. Had to go from the metallic red to grey!

It was not so much as having a SPECIAL CAR - was more the fact it had a better spec than the HSE LUX which cost over 70K by the time i had specced it, plus First Editon was cheaper - a no brainer if you ask me
Hindsight is a wonderful thing though - wish i had a crystal ball
