VPLRS0536 - quilted loadspace mat
Has anyone got one of these fitted, if so how’s it compare to the hundreds of aftermarket ones ?

Yes, I have one and it fits and works well.
I had an aftermarket one in my previous DS and that worked fine, but wasn't perfect.
Having two dogs and going with the LR half dog guard and the divider in the D5,, I felt that the LR quilted cover would be the best fit all round.
It is a better design and better made than my previous cover in the DS, but it obviously costs a lot more.
Velcro flaps cover the D rings. I had to cut holes in the previous one.
Also velcro flaps in the correct place to get at the rear tow and seat switches etc.
Expensive but would recommend.

I have one fitted too. The aftermarket options I checked out said they were not compatible with the full height dog guard, but the LR one is.

I've got one, very good product but it does leave a couple of small bits of carpeted trim exposed on the sides, but very little.
Previously I have always used hatchbag products in all my D3 and D4s, I think I actually prefer this LR liner to those both in looks and usability, it's very quick and easy to fit /remove if you need to use the 3rd row seats and / or the dog guard (full or 1/2), I've used both.
Expensive but worth it.

I've got a half height barrier and sometimes load through with middle row seats down, does the back rest portion just drop down on the rear seats with the headrest straps removed or is it fixed to the liner sides?

The sides are attached to the back piece with a Velcro strip each side, then clip together straps that go around the headrest.
I’m the same as you with a half height guard, it’s a 30s job to undo the clips and pull apart the Velcro, the back of the liner then lies over the seat backs, protecting them when loading. After 2yrs of use the velcro is still like new and strongly grips together.
Hope that makes sense.
