Issues with boot opening
Hi all,
Picked up my D5 a couple of weeks ago (HSE, although I'm a bit of a guinea pig and trying out the new 2L diesel).
Is anyone else having issues with trying to open their boot/tailgate? If I use the fob button, or even sometimes the boot catch button on the tailgate, the boot tries to open half and inch and seemingly gets stuck and re-latches itself closed again. Happens several times until sometimes it then works but more often than not I have to press the button to release it and then manually pull the tailgate open. It'll then close on the button ok.
Just wondering if others have had similar issues as it'll obviously be a call to local dealer to sort shortly.
The less said about the gesture tailgate the better - I've only managed to get it to function once and it took me so by surprise it nearly clocked me in the ribs!

Mines also a bit "sticky" although I have mastered the slow kick method
It opens fully first time 80%, have informed dealers who will look at it when they finally fit my body side mouldings.
For information its also an HSE.

Any issues like this take the car straight back to the dealer.

Give me a clue about that then!
I am fed up looking round in carparks to see if anyone has noticed me floundering under the side of the car with my boot before just putting the bags down and pressing the button!

Slowly kick the exhaust, when you get proficient aim to stop just before.

Hi,
Ours is "sticky" too.
The Dealer took me through the "re-calibration" procedure but it still only makes it off the seal 75% of the time - looking at it tomorrow when they fit the (late) rear mudflaps.
I've suggested talc or silicon spray on the seal as it genuinely seems to be "sticking" as it's worse after it's been left a while.
To re-calibrate - push the tailgate open to the max - press and hold the button on the bottom of the boot for 10 secs (after about 4 secs the car beeps but keep hold). let go and then press the button again - the boot should close and can then (hopefully ) be re-opened to full height.

Hi,
Just sent my Dealers Service Manager the link to this thread to prove I'm not alone with this issue.
His reply:-
"Have spoken to XXXX(master tech ) - there is an adjustment we will do Sat a.m. to stop it catching on the rubber blocks ".

Peter,
Depends how good their Master Tech is I suppose - or how pro-active they are when people have issues!
