    Wireless Charges & Signal Booster

    I can understand the working of the wireless charger part, but can someone explain how the signal booster works?
    In the early D3 there was a cradle & the phone plugged in to use the external aerial - but how can a smartphone wirelessly connect to the car's aerial? Is it still using the smartphone's SIM & call plan or is it somehow linking to the car's SIM?
