    Tailgate adjustment and SB LTB 01178V2

    I have a tailgate needing adjustment again. Can anyone tell me what the content of the above SB covers, or PM me a copy?

    By way of further info on the subject, I understand from the body shop that I am taking my car to, there is a potential for "micro cracking" in the door structure, which requires a replacement rear door to be installed. The inspection for these cracks takes approx. 10 mins. If a replacement door is required apparently its a 4 day job, which I guess includes transferring all the door dressing equipment from old to new door and installation and test.
    The body shop also told me that the SB for the tailgate is a 3 day task.
    If I get more of an understanding as to where the micro cracks are and how to find them I'll post further.

    Does anyone have any further information about this?
    My D5 has started having issues (again) where the tailgate won't open.

    My D5 is still under warranty, but it is still annoying that this has come back again.

    For the repair to mine the door was adjusted for fit and the trim on the inner lower section of the door was replaced as were the side trim pieces located on the inner face of the C panel. I understand that as the doors are plastic they crack at the interface with the upper hinges. I havent had an issue withopening or closing. I hope this is helpful.

    I will see what the dealer report tomorrow.

    I called them earlier to ask if I could take leave it with them tomorrow, and they (to be expected) haven't called back!!

    Dealers aren't any better the world over!!

    Well... They didn't call me back yesterday, so I just turned up. They then called me when I was in their carpark. Wink

    They are keeping the car for the day and will sort it.

    BUT... They said that it is VERY easily misaligned. Even the end user can misalign it by stopping the door with their hand etc.

    I cannot believe that it is so badly designed that the USER can dealign the tailgate door by simply stopping it from opening with their hand!!

    Is it REALLY so badly designed??
