Ordered D250 RDynamic S
Hi all
Just joined the forum but ordered my car back in June.
Moving from 10+ years in BMW’s, needed something bigger, always fancied a Land Rover, and the new Disco won me over very quickly!
I’ve not put that many options on it yet, they do come with a reasonable amount on them, and the cabin feels like such a step up from my current car - BMW 440i.
First question!! I ordered in June 21, still currently sat unslotted ☹️…anyone got any educated guesses on delivery?! The proposed date on my invoice was 1st October, and I know that’s ambitious, but all I’m getting currently from Inchcape is shrugged shoulders!
Got loads of other questions. I’ll try and put them in the relevant sections!
Thanks
Sam

I ordered in May and had a 1st Oct date until last week when it got pushed back to 1st Nov.
If you've not got a slot yet then I'd guess at Jan/Feb. Some people are getting March dates.
The D300 seems to be getting build slots but the D250 isn't for some reason. Also the HUD and deployable tow bar are causing long delays.
MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
MY2019 D5 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - sold to a dealer for a crazy price!

Welcome Discosam.
I made the same/similar move back in mid-2019. Had a 440i GC before the Discos. You’ll enjoy the increased refinement for sure!

Departed: 2019 MY20 HSE Luxury SDV6 in Carpathian Grey/Glacier, 440i, 320d, Toyotas, Mondeo, Citroen BX amongst others

Thanks all! Interesting to hear that someone else has also hit ‘peak BMW’ at the 440i! It’s a great car, but after 6 BMWs, I am getting bored and the ride is hard and it’s too low and I want more space etc etc.
I couldn’t believe how comfortable and quiet the Disco is when I test drove. We had a Tesla M3, and I honestly think the Tesla was noisier on the motorway!
Wonder why they’re delaying the D250- the sceptic in me thinks they’re doing it to maximise short term profit because they make less money on it compared to D300 and other models and they’re playing catch up. Which is understandable, but they really should’ve said at the time I ordered, otherwise I might’ve considered a D300. I don’t think I can switch to a D300 now without losing my place in the queue…

So, let’s get this straight, you order a new car and sign at basically RRP.
You wait 8-12 moths before you get it.
Meantime, if you have a trade in, you’re reliant on what the price the dealer deems fit to give you on change over day, which in all probability won’t be at the high prices they are fetching just now.
Sounds like a loose, loose if I am honest.

I didn’t sign at RRP, I still got a circa 10% discount. I also signed on the basis that I’d get my car in 3-4 months….
You’re right. Used car prices will subside once new cars start coming through more readily. As I see it the best way to maximise it is to sell mine now, and by a jalopy to kick around in for a few months, which won’t feel the bite of the used car market spike right now and Sell that once the new car arrives.
It’s An idea that I’m toying with, aside from needing something Disco-esque for work, and also safe for family on the motorway.

Fair enough, your logic is sound with what you say. Not sure where you’d get. 10% just now. All the places I’ve seen have been RRP and at least a 8 month wait.

Drive the Deal still offering around 10% discount I believe.
I bought an old 04 plate Disco 2 earlier this year to use while i wait for my new D5 to be delivered.
Unfortunately I sold my 19 plate D5 at the end of last year and since then has gone up quite a bit in value.
Might be tempted to sell my new one for a profit.

Also reported in the Daily Express plus other press last week.
I have been quoted 6 - 9 months for my recent D300 HSE RDynamic order. HUD has been withdrawn by JLR as an option but I have agreed to compromise.

currently talking to dealers about what to do. the trade offered on my current is bonkers.
Feeling is if I go for a D300 R dynamic HSE and DONT go for deployable tow bar I should get it for march next year.
I have an offer of just over 10% discount on the table if I go PCP.
Seriously considering letting them have my current now to bag the money and running around in my train station car.

In my opinion, life’s too short to be hanging around for a new LR whilst making do with a run around.
The months are more than likely going to turn into a year plus.
Too many uncertainties on the supply front and when LR go electric.
Still it’s an individual choice, so no right or wrong answer.
