    Mice

A lesson learned. Worthwhile performing occasional checks of the cabin pollen filter (behind the glove box) using recirculation mode on the blower control to open the door.

My pollen filter was replaced the other week. Immediately, the blower motor sounded like an exhaust with a hole in and shortly after developed a musty smell. I take it back in, they strip the blower off and a mouse was wedged in the fan blades along with its nest.

Assumption is that the previous tech didn’t clear the debris off the pollen filter before taking it out. All stripped and cleaned. Smell and noise gone. Engine bay checked over with no evidence of chewed cables.

So if you’re aircon starts smelling musty, it might be worth a check for mice…
