Day Running Lights on but not on caravan when hitched up
When I hitch my caravan (a 2013 Swift Challenger) onto my D5 and connect the electrics etc, the lights on the caravan do not come on with the day running lights on the car. If I switch the car over to side or headlights (manual selection) the lights on the 'van come on. I have seen other D5's running on DRL's with the lights working on the caravan.
Could this be a wiring fault by the tow bar fitters or is there a setting on the D5 I need to implement?
Any help appreciated.

RegG, been discussed before, but, caravan lights are driven from the rear lights on D5, on 17&18my vehicles, drls are lit on both front and rear of car, at 19my onwards, rear lights are not lit when drls are on at front, so your vehicle is correct, done as a fuel saving measure by JLR.

Thanks for the reply. A fuel saving measure? What about safety coming first?!!!!!

JLR are principally concerned with getting the emissions numbers down, safety is a secondary consideration.

On a D4, there are 2 settings for DRL. One is the Scandinavian setting where both front and rear lights are on, the other the Canadian setting where only the fronts are on.
I would expect this to be the same in the D5, so you could ask your dealer to change this.

Theres a US setting too which gives the front amber light on permanently
