Burning Smell
Hi
Anyone else experienced a burning smell (rubber / oil) from their D5?
Had to call LR Lack of Assistance out, who tried to tell me it was the sticker on the DPF as it would get hot when it went through it’s cleaning process.
Had the D5 back to the dealer, who clearly has not bothered to read the LR LoA report, as the smell is still there.
They did managed to fix the oil leak from the filter at the front / top of the engine, that was leaking oil (small amount) Dow the front of the engine.

We had the same burning smell a few weeks ago too. I think it is the DPF.
Having owned the car for nearly 3 years now i had never noticed burning smell before and im sure it would have done a few burn offs in that time. However a few weeks ago the smell was very prominent and was evident for nearly a week - especially when getting out of the car. Smelt like burnt oil.
I checked the oil levels incase it was looosing/burningsome, and all good. Luckily we had to do a couple of long drives and since then the smell has gone. Interestingly even after the first 1.5hrs of motorway driving when we stopped the smell was still there but after the next 1.5hrs driving the smell had gone.
I wish there was a manual way to force a re-gen.
Certainly sounds like the smell you have so hope this helps!

Burning Smell
UPDATE
Turns out i had a n oile leek from the filter on the fron / top of the engine, dripping down onto fan belt, and then hitting hot parts..... thus smell.
Now cured......
