    Well it’s gone

Well after 30 years and 10 Discoveries the love affair with LR has come to an end. My D5 went today and I now own a Volvo XC90

My Discovery list over the years:

    1992 200 Tdi 3 door Aegean Blue
    1993 300 Tdi S 5 door Biarritz Blue
1995 300 Tdi ES 5 door Rioja Red
    2000 TD5 S Epsom Green
    2003 TD5 Landmark Epsom Green
    2005 D3 S Tonga Green
    2009 D3 XS Lugano Teal
    2012 D4 XS Ipanema Sand
2015 D4 SE Tech Loire Blue
    2019 D5 HSE SD4 Corris Grey

Was that a sign of madness Whistle

Well done, I am seriously going to have a look at the new EX90 as a replacement for my current RRS hybrid when it launches.

2017 HSE now sold, if you own WF17AXN then you have a well sorted car!
2022 Range Rover Sport P400e HSE Dynamic and 2023 Sport P440e Dynamic SE on order

I guess, for different reasons favourite would possibly be 2nd D3, but for shear spec and “presence” it would be the D5

    Least favourite was 1st D4

I agree with Al. I’ve had 7 LR’s since 1972 and have recently bought a 3L D5 which is by far the most luxurious with lots of bells and whistles. However, the 2009 HSE D3 was the best car I’ve ever had of any brand. Sold it to a friend who said I could borrow it any time so I may do a few dump runs in it Rolling with laughter

I’ve had a few D3/4/5’s, but never have I got attached to any. They are a tool to do a job.

I just lack the inspiration to look elsewhere tbh and I’d rather not buy than suffer a second of the patter that spews forth from ingenious snake oil LR salesmen, whom have got to be a level lower than politicians on the evolutionary scale & that’s saying something.

Plus I dislike test drives, the last one I went on was an Escort Mk3 in the 80’s.

If I see what I want i phone up negotiate the price and buy it.

I must say the experience at the Volvo dealer, and the attitude of the sales guy was chalk and cheese from what I have had from any LR dealership. Much nicer experience 👍

Did you have to wait long for the Volvo?

I’ve had 2 Volvos, an S70 and 2006 XC90. Both had transmission and alternator failures.
My 2017 HSE Si6 had only the windshield leak and 2 exhaust sensors go bad, the last one repaired itself.

Good luck with your 4 cylinder Volvo.

I didn’t have to wait too long, about 5 weeks.

And with regards to 4 cylinder motors, my D5 was the 2ltr 4 pot.

Hope the Volvo works out ok. I had a xc60 as a loaner, it was top of the range and it impressed.

I reckon you’ll be back to the green oval brand in the not so distant Very Happy

Not until they have a better engine I won’t., Seems to me that whilst other manufacturers also can have issues, they tend not to be catastrophic, in LR’s case requiring a new engine

I keep telling myself I'll leave the brand... but never do! I've had a Disco Sport, Evoque, Disco 4, now a 5. Wife has a FFRR and her family are LR mad with classics etc. I can't seem to shake it.

I sat in an XC90 and LOVED the seats. Volvo we're always very good at that.

Regard, issues with cars... I hear horror stories related to every modern brand now. So much luck involved, and a warranty a must.
