    Daytime running lights

Do the daytime running lights on the latest Discovery operate in daylight?

When set to auto, the lights on my Metropolitan work magnificently. Yet they don’t illuminate in daylight. No DRL front or rear.

Is this another issue to raise with the dealer, or are they all like that?

    The manual says:
The Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) illuminate during normal daylight conditions in order to make the vehicle more visible to other road users.
The DRLs illuminate automatically when the following conditions are met:
AUTO mode is active. See LIGHTING CONTROL.
High ambient light levels are detected.
    The engine is running.
    A drive gear is selected.

2017 Discovery Td6 First Edition Namib Orange

Mine have worked on both the D5s I have owned and in daylight. The rears do not work on all models just the higher spec models.

Namib Orange 1st Edition with black roof and wheels.
Privacy, tow bar, drive pack, surround camera, heated front & rear seats, auto dim door mirrors, side steps, remote Pro, RSE, arm rest fridge dash cam front and rear.

Is yours a pre-facelift model, with previous gen lights?

Russell, I think you've provided the missing piece of the puzzle.

The rear lights don't illuminate with DRL on the facelift D5s - unlike all the German cars I've owned. Plus, as the manual states, the car much be in gear for the front DRL to illuminate.

What I had done, is start the car and check the lights. No DRL as in Park.
Head up the driveway, and check the rearview mirror for the rear lights reflecting in the house. As the rears don't illuminate with DRL, I've mistakenly assumed the fronts were also not on.
