    Winch bumper

    Hello All,

A few years ago I put a discreet winch on my D5.

While I am very happy with it, the sad thing is that the radar sensor for the ACC didn't fit perfectly because my D5 is a 2017 model that used the old ACC radar sensor.

This causes the ACC to sporadically stop working.

I have seen that Rhino4x4 in AU do quite a nice looking from bumper for the D5 that has a winch tray built in.

Has anyone on here tried it?

If so, did you have problems getting it registered here?

    Thanks

    Nick

I’ve the lucky 8 tray I had fitted on my 67plate D5 , the radar worked with that tray,
Tray is available if you’re interested

Johnlad... Thanks for the offer... I might well be interested!!

Do you know... which radar sensor did you have on your D5?

Was it "in front" of the crash bar, or was it "set in" to the crash bar?

You don't have any photos of the installation do you?

I have the Wildbear winch tray... Really nicely made but sadly the acc mount is for the newer version of sensor, and mine is consequently slightly too high and fouls against the winch motor of I try to put it lower. This means that the sensor is half above the bumper, and sometimes gets 'confised'.

Alternatively... Does anyone know of I can use a 2nd hand new sensor on my D5? Do they have to be coded to the car, or just calibrated?

I’m almost certain it was the sticking out radar sensor, I’ll check through what photos I have and see if there’s any.

I believe the sensor needs calibration to swap from another vehicle
