So an update of sorts to this ongoing saga.

After Rockar claiming they would sort this, they've gone AWOL again. Both from me as well as from JLR Finance who have been trying to contact them as part of my claim.

Thankfully, as a result of the audit trail I kept when I initially bought the car and the well documented email trail of issues noted within 24hrs of collection, in spite of Rockar, JLR Finance have upheld my claim and are progressing with a resolution.

Thought process is that this is down to the windscreen. Rockar, although they told me they're resealed the windscreen, have told JLR Finance they've done nothing with it. JLR UK has no record of any warranty claims in this regard. So they have offered to cover the full cost of getting the vehicle inspected and any remedial work required (subject to pre-approval of costs). If it is deemed uneconomical (from their perspective) to solve, then we can reject the vehicle.

On top of that, they've offered a little over £1k in compensation. I'm not sure really how this was come up with and gut feel suggests there's more if I pushed, but my main focus is on getting this sorted asap and getting back to really enjoying the car since in every other respect it's perfect for our family and intended usage.

It's now booked into Marshalls Cambridge in a fortnight for a very expensive inspection £216 Shocked (I will be claiming this back) and then a formal quote on anticipated remedial work. I'm hoping very much that the full replacement of the interior carpets is included in this since it's now been sitting in standing water for >1yr and in spite of my efforts to wet vac, the backing has mopped it all up.

Anyway, watch this space - I'll continue to update the thread with any news as I have it.

I am surprised they have not sent this car back to JLR in Gaydon or wherever this sort of problem can be resolved by JLR engineering. With the best will in the world (at least in my personal experience) many dealer technicians are not trouble shooters. They may be able to carry out servicing and repairs by following the manual or whatever the diagnostic tells them, but thinking out side of the box isn’t in their skill set.

Fingers crossed the Cambridge crew are better.
